Master Buddy Program: Register!

The Master Buddy Program links starting entrepreneurs to a team of master students. They are the buddy whose principal mission is to make an entrepreneur happy.  The program starts in September and is open for registration.

Collaboration for six months

The design of the Master Buddy Program is straight forward: an entrepreneur has a question and the Buddies act as a support to get to a solution. This can be about deceptively  simple questions such as: ‘What is an appropriate strategy for my company?’, ‘What opportunities are there within my market?’ or ‘What do I really have to offer to my customers?’. But simple questions are not always the easiest to solve. The Master Buddies spar, provide support, ask critical questions, have an analytical view and help retrieve relevant information. They spend half a day a week on this. The students come from the master’s program Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) at Radboud University. The program is organized in collaboration with local partners such as Startup Nijmegen and Mercator Launch.

Growth opportunities

From November onwards, students will be asked by the curriculum to investigate the opportunities for scaling and how this can be achieved profitably. The program concludes with a pitch event in February where students defend their ideas before an expert jury. The coordination of the Master Buddy Program is in the hands of dr. ir. Nanne Migchels. The workshop is facilitated in English and is free of charge and organised together with Mercator Launch.

Participation in the workshop is free for everyone, including drinks and bites. However, for cancellations within 24 hours prior to the event, we will charge a fee of 15 euros (excluding VAT) to cover incurred expenses.

This year we organise every month a walk-in for health and hightech companies.

Britta works as intellectual property (IP) advisor for the Netherlands Patent Office and is eager to help start-ups and SMEs with their questions on IP-rights in the broadest sense of the word. The Netherlands Patent Office is an official Dutch government body whose main goal is to stimulate innovation in the Netherlands. It does so by providing support and guidance to business owners, the services sector, scientists, researchers, teachers, and students. Pharma Delta is launched!

On May 30 was the launch of a new alliance: Pharma Delta. The Pharma Delta alliance aims to set a new standard for pharmaceutical excellence and collective progress. Representatives from small and large pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, educational organizations and local governments work together to focus on accelerating innovation, strengthening careers, and creating shared sustainable facilities.

Pharma Delta intends to create an ecosystem that enhances and accelerates the entire pharmaceutical chain. Pharma Delta aims not just for an increase in jobs, but for full careers and it believes in the development and retention of staff, which is vital for the growth and prosperity of our region.

The launch took place during the From Molecule to Business network event on May 30 at Pivot Park. The official launch was performed by chair Rob Nelissen, Organon Central Northern Europe and Frank den Brok, Gemeente Oss and Harmen Neidig, HAN University of Applied Sciences.

Meeting Your Peers Engineers #1Multiphysics Simulation

By popular demand, the High Tech Network Meetings are back in action. We will now be organizing the ‘Meeting Your Peers Engineers’ about five times a year at the Noviotech Campus in Nijmegen!

These free gatherings are specially designed for engineers working in Nijmegen and the surrounding areas at High Tech/Semicon companies. The goal is simple yet powerful: to meet each other, share knowledge, and stay informed about the latest developments in our sector.

Ampleon in the spotlight
The kickoff will take place on Thursday, June 25, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Noviotech Campus. Ampleon will take the spotlight and provide the lunch. Their Director Modelling and Characterization Group,Vittorio Cuoco, will dive into one of Ampleon’s specialties: Multiphysics Simulation. Increasing pressure on cost and performance of modern MMIC products for 5G and RF applications require EM-based optimization of designs to gain competitive advantage.

To make sure that temperatures and mechanical stress levels remain under reliability limits for smaller and smaller packing solutions, Multiphysics simulations are needed at product and system level, including full chip, package, board and cooling blocks to ensure that temperatures and the mechanical stress levels remain under reliability limits.

Having EM and Multiphysics tools under the same roof with a simple interface improves efficiency, boost productivity, and enables cutting-edge designs of high-performance products.

Demcon Multiphysics shares examples of projects
Elze Knol, Group Leader at Demcon Multiphysics, will be our guest speaker. We are excited to announce that!

Demcon Multiphysics is specialized in complex multiphysics simulations, mainly using finite element and finite volume methods. Using such simulations, they gain deep physical insight of a design and can increase the efficiency of product development. Elze will share some examples of projects they performed, a.o. modeling of combined electromagnetic and thermal effects.
