Together with HAN University of Applied Sciences, CITC developed the Semiconductor Packaging University Program. The program provides a connection between education and industry and as such contributes to the training and skills of people that align with industry needs. People who are in high demand – now and in the future. The program therefore represents an important step in securing the future of the semiconductor industry in Europe.

Industry experts

The program offers its participants training in all relevant aspects of chip packaging, both in theory and in practice. The theoretical part is provided by industry experts – in addition to CITC and HAN, the program was developed in collaboration with NXP, Nexperia, Ampleon, TU Delft and TNO.

The practical assignments of the program are carried out on the premises of CITC and several semiconductor companies.

Integrated chip technology and its applications

You learn about the semiconductor industry and take a deep dive into the final step of chip manufacturing. This is the phase in which the chip is packaged in its housing.

Developments such as integrated photonics, system-on-chip, embedded cameras, 5G antennas, sensors and micro-electro-mechanical systems place high demands on the manufacturing process… and the competencies of semiconductor staff.

that works for the 21st century

“We are 21st-century citizens, doing our best to interact with 19th century-designed institutions that are based on an information technology of the 15th century” says democracy activist Pia Mancini. It’s precisely this mismatch that makes our parliamentary ‘ballot’ democracy hopelessly dysfunctional in the current ICT/network era, resulting in polarization and disengagement. But what if we decided to use these technologies for a fix? Digital networks, AI and their applications open up the possibility of large-scale, detailed-level citizen involvement and thus a transformation of representative democracy into a more participatory one. Crowdsourcing of policies is currently already being experimented worldwide at various levels of government. Meanwhile researchers are working on the development of inclusive, unbiased and effective methods for mass deliberation, reviving a spirit of consensus, trust and nuance.

The Science Café on Monday May 15th will host two pioneers and developers of future digital democracy. Martijn de Vries (TUD, Populytics) will talk about the Participatory Value Evaluation, an online method developed in Delft for evaluating policy options with the participation of large groups of citizens. This is already being applied in practice, for example currently in the government’s national climate consultation. Davide Grossi (RUG, UvA) studies decision-making in groups and what AI support it requires for realizing the ideal of large-scale online deliberation. He will discuss how we can develop algorithms that we can trust to be truly democratic. Throughout the evening Willem ‘t Hart, Rotterdam-based keyboardist/pianist/producer with passions both in music and fashion, will play his original blend of Hiphop, Neosoul and Jazz on keys and Ableton.

Are you interested in learning more about the ethical dilemmas surrounding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Join ERISC (our student-led organization that focusses on responsible innovation and ethical dilemmas surrounding AI) for an engaging workshop where we explore the complex ethical considerations that arise with AI.

In the first part of the workshop, we’ll provide a brief introduction to AI, setting the stage for deeper discussion. Next, we’ll divide the participants into groups, and present them with a variety of relevant ethical dilemmas. The groups will be challenged to actively consider all the factors at play in these situations, and work together to come up with thoughtful solutions.

Through this interactive workshop, participants will come to realize that the use of AI is not as straightforward as it may seem, and that ethical responsibility plays a critical role. Join us to expand your knowledge and develop new insights into the ethics of AI.

We can’t wait to see you there! Signing up is not needed.

Location:

Noviotech Campus, building M, Nijmegen

How to get more out of your team!

Leading and managing a team is rewarding, complex, sometimes frustrating and amazing! Most entrepreneurs know more about their industry or craft than about getting the most out of the team that they work with. Yet fulfilling that role as a leader well is crucial to the success of your business, to your happiness at work and that of your employees. Something that investors also look at when deciding to put more money into your business or to keep you in your role as CEO as the company grows. Whether you have issues with your team, or everything is fine in that area but you would like to keep it that way, this afternoon will be well spent as good staff are harder to find and keep.

In this workshop, hosted by Lizanne Jakobs, we will work on crafting our knowledge and skills on:

– Your role as a leader

– The difference between managing and leading

– What to do when there is friction

– How do you keep people on track and motivated in the short and long term

Lizanne Jakobs is an award winning business coach and speaker and an entrepreneur herself. She is the founder of Brilliant Work, named best business coaching and consultancy firm in the Netherlands for small to medium sized companies two years in a row. Her workshops are always interactive, useful and engaging. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s in International Business Communications, both from the Radboud University and is a DiSC accredited trainer. The team of coaches at Brilliant Work help clients grow and professionalise their companies. Most of these coaching engagements are aided by one of the many different subsidies they are accredited for.

Programme

The workshop will run from 14.30 to 17.00, with doors opening 15 minutes before hand. Half way through there will be a break and from 17.00 onwards it will turn into a networking opportunity.

Ditmaal bezoeken we regio oost.
