Workshop Recap: The crucial steps (and pitfalls) for growth

How do you grow your company without losing balance, or ending up in constant firefighting mode? During our interactive workshop “The Crucial Steps (and Pitfalls) for Growth”, Lizanne Jakobs, founder of Brilliant Work, helped our startups and scale-ups explore exactly that question.

The balance between hard and soft

Lizanne emphasised that growth is not just about having a strong business plan, funding, or a great product. As your company evolves, for example when going to market or entering a new phase, the balance between the hard, tangible side of business and the softer, human side becomes increasingly important.

Think strategy, structure and financial control, but also leadership, communication, decision-making and team dynamics. Both sides need continuous development as your organisation grows.

The building blocks of a solid company

During the session, participants worked with the core building blocks that every company needs. When and how these apply depends on:

  • your industry
  • your development phase
  • the type and size of investors
  • the clients and stakeholders you work with.

There is no one-size-fits-all roadmap. But there is a need for conscious reflection.

Lizanne challenged participants with a practical assignment:

  • What is already working well in your company?
  • What are the key areas you must strengthen in the coming year?

Because sustainable growth means building a solid foundation, not constantly solving urgent issues.

Using subsidies to grow smarter

An important part of the workshop was highlighting available subsidy schemes that support companies in strengthening business strategy and professional skills. These instruments can significantly accelerate professionalisation and structured growth.

We look back on a dynamic and hands-on session, filled with honest conversations and practical insights. Exactly what Briskr aims to offer: real tools for founders who are serious about scaling in health and high-tech.
