PhD & Postdoc Career Event 2025 – Empowering the next generation of scientists

Last Friday, October 31, Radboudumc once again opened its doors to early-career researchers for the annual PhD & Postdoc Career Event. The day brought together PhD candidates, postdocs, industry professionals, and academic leaders to explore one key question: What comes next after your PhD or Postdoc?

As a supporting partner, Briskr was proud to contribute to this inspiring event — helping connect research talent with companies, policy organisations, and entrepreneurs from the Lifeport region and beyond. By opening up our network and coordinating company participation, we aim to help young researchers discover how their scientific background can lead to diverse and rewarding career paths.

The programme featured an engaging mix of presentations, workshops, and networking moments. After the opening by Radboudumc Scientific Director Guillén Fernández, Audrey Peters reminded participants that a PhD is more than a degree — it’s a powerful toolkit of transferable skills: leadership, adaptability, and critical thinking.
From rapid-fire sponsor pitches to career speed dating sessions, participants connected directly with professionals from pharma, consulting, policy, and education. The company market and networking lunch offered a great opportunity to meet organisations such as the College ter Beoordeling van Geneesmiddelen, Ardena, 10x Genomics, Pivot Park, and Briskr. A popular CV check corner and several career workshops rounded off the day, focusing on the STAR method, LinkedIn strategies, and effective networking.

As Radboudumc beautifully summed up:
A scientific background opens more doors than it closes. It’s not about leaving science behind, but taking science wherever you go.”

At Briskr, we couldn’t agree more. Supporting researchers in their next career step, within or outside academia, is central to our mission. We look forward to joining again next year to help even more scientists explore the many paths their expertise can lead to.
