Career Day Radboudumc: learning, connecting and exploring
“On November 1, the Career Day for PhDs and postdocs at the Radboud Experience Center offered an inspiring day of learning, connecting, and exploring career possibilities in and outside the academic world. A big thank you to the organizers for creating such a great event! As a sponsor and active contributor, Briskr was delighted to assist and invite companies to the event, ensuring PhDs and postdocs could engage directly with potential future employers and collaborators. We welcomed our supporting partners BDO and EP&C along with innovative life sciences companies TropIQ and Khondrion, and representatives from RVO.
“Our Program Manager, Floor van de Watering, a former PhD and postdoc, shared her inspiring journey through diverse career paths both within and beyond academia. She offered attendees valuable insights into her work in tech transfer, regional development, and her role with Briskr in supporting health and high-tech innovation in the region. Her story strongly resonated with those considering varied paths in science, industry, innovation and regional development.
Adding to the day’s value, Briskr offered a free networking workshop by Frank Smallegange that encouraged a fresh approach. His advice: ‘Networking is work, so treat it that way! Anddon’t just ask for a job, but ask others how they found theirs. Grab a coffee, show genuine curiosity, and make meaningful connections.’ This philosophy fostered a relaxed yet impactful networking environment where participants could practice and learn and it lead to meaningful insights that participants could apply immediately during the company market after the workshop.
At the Briskr stand, we had engaging conversations with talented PhDs and postdocs about their career aspirations, providing connections and workshops to develop yourself. With our broad network, we’re excited to continue supporting PhDs and postdocs in their next steps, connecting them to the right people, companies, and resources to advance their careers and make a lasting impact in the health and high-tech sectors. It was truly a great day, and we look forward to helping shape the careers of these bright minds!”
